Leading Uganda's Fight for Sustainable Water and Sanitation

The UPF-WASH is an independent network of Ugandan Members of Parliament (MPs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and members of the private sector who support the need for improvements in the demand and supply of WASH services in Uganda. It provides a forum for MPs and partners to share views and agree on strategies to improve WASH across the whole country. Collaboration with the partners in the Executive arm of Government, private sector, CSOs, and Development Partners (DPs) strengthens processes of selection and implementation of investments for WASH, as well as packaging and dissemination of key messages and information to the different stakeholders.

UPF-WASH is a parliamentary advocacy network (not a government agency) that:

Legislates: Drafts/promotes WASH-related bills (e.g., BulungiBwansi Act).
Advocates: Lobbies for increased WASH budgets and policy reforms.
Oversees: Tracks government WASH programs for accountability.
We bridge Parliament, communities, and development partners to accelerate Uganda’s SDG 6 progress.

We:

Monitor budgets: Publish reports on WASH allocations/utilization (e.g., 2024 Budget Tracker).
Public audits: Collaborate with the Auditor General to highlight gaps.
Community feedback: Partner with CSOs to document grassroots needs.
All financial reports are available to donors and partners upon request.

Partner: CSOs/NGOs can collaborate on research or advocacy campaigns.
Donate: Fund specific programs (e.g., school WASH, MHM advocacy).
Advocate: Amplify our campaigns via social media or local networks.
